A soil test is a soil classification for a site that explains to the structural engineer and building surveyor what type of soil class applies, so that the engineer may design the footings of your building accordingly.
After the field works is completed, the soil classification report is prepared to classify your site under the Australian Standard AS2870-2011. Your site may be an A, S, M, H1, H2, or P class site.
The report lets your engineer know how reactive your site is, the depth to the preferred founding clay and indicates an allowable bearing pressure.
